An Irish feature documentary from Underground Films and Causeway Pictures will be available around the world on Netflix from January 15.
The documentary will examine the work of Kerry priest Malachi Martin, who dedicated his life to performing exorcisms in the name of God. According to Radio Kerry, Martin claimed to be the inspiration for the priest in the infamous horror movie The Exorcist.
Director Marty Stalker expressed his delight that Netflix would be distributing the documentary, and said of his subject: “The fascinating Malachi Martin was and still is an enigma and I have no doubt we’ll be seeing and hearing a lot more about him and his life in the years to come.”
The documentary will show Martin locking horns with “the devil” as he attempts to save a child’s soul from a possession.
Titled Hostage To The Devil, the documentary takes its name from a book penned in 1976 by Malachi Martin himself.
