Kevin Smith Jay and Silent Bob reboot 2019

The boys are back in town.

Unlike many people and their new year’s resolutions, Kevin Smith looks likely to stick to his.

The enduring filmmaker spent the first day of 2019 hard at work on a “pre-pre-production” meeting for the forthcoming, yes-it’s-actually-happening Jay and Silent Bob reboot.

Having first appeared in Smith’s directorial debut Clerks in 1994, the wacky duo have proved beloved long-running fixtures in his work, popping up in Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma and their own big screen adventure in 2001.

They even cameoed in Scream 3, somehow escaping the wrath of the Ghostface killer.

But that’s in the past, with the future looking brighter than ever for Smith and partner in comic crime Jason Mewes.

Smith first announced the project back in 2017. His last film, 2016’s Yoga Hosers, was met with critical derision and proved a bomb with audiences, too.

A health scare in early 2018 saw him eventually lose over 50 pounds and he seems to be in great form going into this new year.

As the man himself noted, Jay and Silent Bob’s grand return is still in the very early planning stages, but it’s still some good news to kick 2019 off with all the same.
