Kevin Spacey lands first movie role since being dropped from House Of Cards

The two-time Oscar winner hasn’t been in a major movie since 2017’s Baby Driver.

Kevin Spacey has landed his first major starring role in a movie in four years, since he was dropped by Netflix from the sixth and final season of House Of Cards in 2017.

This happened in light of multiple sexual assault charges and other misconduct issues were issued against the actor.

Spacey – who has won two Oscars for his performances in The Usual Suspects and American Beauty – hasn’t appeared in a movie or TV project since 2017, when his final scenes in House Of Cards streamed on Netflix, as well as his supporting roles in Baby Driver and Billionaire Boys Club.

The actor did appear in short Christmas videos, apparently reprising his House Of Cards role of Frank Underwood, in which he refutes the allegations against him.

Spacey’s new role is co-starring opposite Vanessa Redgrave (Atonement, Call The Midwife) in The Man Who Drew God.

The movie’s official synopsis is as follows:

“The rise and fall of a blind artist who has the extraordinary gift of making true-to-life portraits just by listening to human voices, and of becoming a TV-junk star. A fable on the need to rediscover the miraculous power of dignity in a world where media’s noise has solved the problem of man’s imperfection simply by removing the problem itself.”

The movie will be directed by Redgrave’s husband Franco Nero, better known as an actor thanks to his roles in the likes of Django Unchained, Die Hard 2, and John Wick: Chapter 2.

Nero told ABC News (via Deadline) that “I’m very happy Kevin agreed to participate in my film. I consider him a great actor and I can’t wait to start the movie.”
