Big news for fans of the hit show.

Kim Cattrall will reportedly reprise her iconic role from Sex and the City as Samantha Jones in the second season of the hit series’ sequel And Just Like That.

The news comes from Variety and is noteworthy as Cattrall previously announced that she was retiring from playing the character, having turned down a script for a third Sex and the City movie which wound up not getting made.

As such, Samantha was referenced but did not appear in And Just Like That, with Cattrall written out of the sequel show. Also, the actress and her Sex and the City co-star Sarah Jessica Parker have each spoken publicly of tension between the pair.

On top of reporting the casting news, Variety shared details on when and how Cattrall will appear as Samantha in season two of And Just Like That. So, turn away now if you do not want spoilers.

Still here? Well, scroll down for the information.

The entertainment magazine states that Cattrall will appear in the sequel’s season two finale just for one scene. Sources told Variety that the actress shot her dialogue on 22 March in New York City, without seeing or speaking with the other stars of the series, including Parker.

The scene will see Cattrall’s Samantha have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw. In the first season of And Just Like That, it was said that Samantha moved to London and that she had a falling out with Carrie.

Carrie was seen texting Samantha during the first season and in its finale, the pair made a plan to see each other in a move towards reconciliation.

Variety also states that Cattrall’s appearance as Samantha in season two of And Just Like That will not be a continuation of the character for now.

The second season of And Just Like That will premiere in Ireland on Monday, 22 June 2023 on Sky and NOW.
