WATCH: Ralph Fiennes gets to be the ultimate badass in the new trailer for The King’s Man

Witness the rise of the civilised.

One of the highlights of the original Kingsman movie (and not so much the overblown sequel) was seeing Colin Firth go kung-fu master on anyone rude enough to cross his path incorrectly.

We normally knew Firth as being the foppish romantic lead in period dramas or Bridget Jones movies, so to watch him take out a church full of violent killers was as jaw-dropping as it was entertaining.

So for the World War I prequel, which is set to tell the origins of the Kingsman organisation, we see Ralph Fiennes fill those loafers and go all kick-ass on the baddies in The King’s Man.

The official plot synopsis tells us: “As a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man must race against time to stop them,” but watching this latest trailer, there is definitely a vibe of that Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law Sherlock Holmes movie.

Which is no bad thing in our books, not to mention the impressive all-star cast, and even-more-impressive old-school facial hair.

Starring: Ralph Fiennes, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, Rhys Ifans, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hollander, Gemma Arterton, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance, Stanley Tucci, and Liam Neeson.

Directed by: Matthew Vaughn

Irish release date: 14 February 2020
