It’s been a huge part of his life.

Game of Thrones season eight is set to debut sometime in 2019 and will consist of six episodes. Six much longer episodes than any that have come before.

Entertainment Weekly recently ran a cover story all about the show’s final season which dropped some bombshells, including what will happen in the first episode of the new season and the fact the final season was originally meant to be three movies rather than a TV series.

The three movie plan was thought up during the second season of the show as a way to make the most of their budget but as the popularity of the show took off, HBO granted the creators the funding to produce it for the small screen in six parts.

While there’s a lot to take in from the EW coverage, one thing that stuck out in our mind was the revelation that twice during the read through of the script, Kit Harington dissolved into tears.

While he refused to reveal the reason he cried the first time – we imagine he contractually can’t reveal the information – he did say what broke him the second time.

“The second time was the very end,” Harington said. He’s referring to when the cast reached the last page of episode six, and what the showrunners wrote there at the bottom.

“Every season, you read at the end of the last script ‘End of Season One,’ or ‘End of Season Two,’” Harington says. “This read ‘End of Game of Thrones.'”
