Everyone from high-ranking members of several national governments all the way down to us lowly peasants are having a hard time wrapping our brains around the intricacies of Brexit, the backstop, the repercussions of what might happen should a No-Deal situation go into action, and if there is even a way out of this mess.
Thankfully, there are two ways to get people to pay attention and retain information about complicated situations.
(A) You can feed the information to the audience via an attractive conduit, like the director of The Big Short did, when he got Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Selena Gomez, and more to break down the financial crisis, or...
(B) Make it funny.
Which is what John Oliver and his team at Last Week Tonight can always be counted on doing, as they entertainingly explain the history of Brexit, how we all got into this mess, what the future of the mess might be, and if there is even a way out of this mess.
Also, there was some controversy last week when the UK government declared that some of the footage used from the House Of Commons couldn't be screened there as it would be in breach of the regulations of use of said footage. But since this is the internet, you get to see it in full. And you also get to see the weirdly brilliant alternative footage that the UK audiences got to see instead.
