Late Late Show owl

Personally, we’d have gone for Owly McOwlface, but we’re equally happy with honouring the great Gay Byrne.

A competition held on air last night to name the Late Late Show owl and resulted in a decent response from the public.

Over 7,700 people voted online to name the the Late Late Show owl, which has been synonymous with the opening credits of the Friday night show for decades.

In the end, the winning suggestion was “Gabriel”, in honour legendary Late Late Show host, Gay Byrne.

It was a touching tribute to the much-loved broadcaster and was part of a decent Late Late Show overall which included an interview and performance from Kiefer Sutherland, and chats with Thomas Barr and Andrea Corr among others.
