A host of names will pay respects to the Pogues leader.

It’s a big night on the Late Late Show front this Friday the 13th as a chorus of Irish stars get set to line up to pay tribute to Shane MacGowan.

Following last week’s announcement that MacGowan will perform ‘Fairytale of New York’ live on the show comes the full line-up for the big event.

First up, Pat Shortt will cause some low-key havoc as he makes his way through the audience in the guise of his latest character.

Further side-splitting heroics will come from Jason Byrne, who will give his take on recent news stories as well as chatting about his series of children’s books.

On a more serious note, host Ryan Tubridy will speak with a number of volunteers who have worked tirelessly with Ireland’s homeless population over the past year in a bid to highlight the positive impact that volunteering can have for both parties.

But it’s really all about the main event.

As noted, Shane MacGowan will be in the studio where he will belt out not just ‘Fairytale‘ but a host of his popular tunes.

In support, the likes of Glen HansardLisa O’NeillAidan GillenPatrick BerginMoya BrennanPhilomena Begley and Pat McCabe will be on hand alongside MacGowan and his wife Victoria Mary Clarke for plenty of craic agus ceol.

MacGowan’s sister, journalist and musician Siobhán MacGowan, will also be chatting with Tubridy, while US politician Martin O’Malley has flown in to give a hat-tip to Shane and the impact his music had on him as an Irish-American.

The Late Late Show is on RTÉ One tonight – Friday 13 December – at 9.35pm.
