We loved the Oscar-nominated The Lego Movie when it arrived back in 2014 (as did a lot of other folk, as it banked nearly $470 million worldwide and scored 96% on Rotten Tomatoes).
Since then we've had The Lego Batman Movie, and The Lego Ninjago Movie, and now we're finally getting back to Emmet, Wyldstyle and the gang for the direct sequel to the first bonkers animated comedy.
This time, everything is set in a Mad Max Fury Road style post-apocalyptic landscape, one which sees Wyldstyle kidnapped by an evil space queen, and Emmet heading off to save her with his new "Galaxy defending archaeologist cowboy and raptor trainer" buddy, who, it sounds like, is also voiced by Chris Pratt.
Which would make sense, considering Pratt has played a galaxy defendor, a cowboy, and a raptor trainer in movies before. We don't recall him ever being an archaeologist though, so maybe that is a callback to when it was rumoured he was going to be the next Indiana Jones?
Either way, it is a cracking joke, and we're sure Emmet and Rex's banter will be fantastic.
Plus, Lego Batman is also back, and he is never not funny.
Cast: Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Tiffany Haddish, Stephanie Beatriz and Arturo Castro.
Director: Mike Mitchell (Shrek Ever After, Trolls, Sky High)
Irish release date: Friday, February 8, 2019.
Enjoy!
