Lisa Kudrow would prefer it if you’d stop trying to make a Friends revival happen

Hope you’re happy, whoever made that fake movie trailer…

Having been added to Netflix earlier this month, Friends is once again dominating the pop culture landscape.

The show has been an interesting discovery for a whole new generation of people. Some have been offended – and then roundly trolled by Netflix for their troubles – while others have wondered what all the fuss is about.

It has generated debate about how comedy shows of bygone eras look through a 2018 lens, and generally been a huge hit for the streaming giant.

And then there’s the fake movie trailer.

A couple of weeks back, a mash-up did the rounds, offering fans a glimpse of what an official modern-day reunion might look like.

Despite some dreadful editing and music choices, the clip quickly went viral as millions of people got their hopes up for a legitimate comeback.

Friends alumni Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox were among those who gave in to curiosity, and they weren’t terribly won over by what they saw.

Speaking on Conan O’Brien’s talk show this weekend, Kudrow poured cold water on the potential reboot, and gave a pretty concise review of the trailer in question.

“I don’t know what to make of it,” she said. “It’s just these weird clips from things that clearly have nothing to do with Friends.

“I mean, something should be done,” she considered. “They’re rebooting everything, but how does that work with Friends, though? That was about people in their 20s, 30s… the show isn’t about people in their 40s, 50s. And if we have the same problems, then that’s just sad.”

So yeah, maybe don’t get your hopes up…
