Luke Cage star on what makes the perfect comic book villain and Season 2 of the hit show

Paul Moore

Luke Cage Season 2

Luke Cage is back!

As we saw in the gripping debut season of Netflix’s explosive show, brutal fights, bullets, and rocket launchers can’t stop Luke Cage.

On that note, it comes as no surprise to see that the ‘Hero of Harlem’ is back for Season 2 but the physical and emotional stakes have been raised.

After clearing his name, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so well known has only increased the pressure he feels to protect the community. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Who is that new foe?

Well, let’s just say that Luke Cage is going to be pushed to his very limits with the arrival of the Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir)

Aside from offering a formidable physical challenge, the Bushmaster revels in psychological warfare as Cage will be pushed to the very edge.

In terms of memorable Marvel villains, Bushmaster is more than capable of mixing it with the best of them and JOE got a chance to catch up with the very talented Mustafa Shakir (The Night Of, The Deuce) to talk about Season 2.

Aside from revealing his own list of people that would never have to pay for a free haircut – fans of Season 1 and Pop’s Barber Shop will know exactly what we’re talking about – Shakir also teased a few more details about what fans of the show can expect in the new season.

Aside from a plethora of amazing fights and stunts, there’s plenty for Shakir to get his villainous teeth into because Bushmaster offers a completely different challenge to everyone’s favourite Power Man.

With so many Marvel villains to terrify us, here’s why the latest villain is a little bit different.

FYI, we’re not going to spoil anything but it’s safe to say that the new foe makes one hell of an entrance!

Season 2 of Luke Cage is now available to watch on Netflix.

Enjoy!
