WATCH: Melissa McCarthy returned to SNL with another vicious parody of angry Sean Spicer

Not surprisingly, a speech made by Spicer earlier this week featured prominently in the sketch.

Donald Trump has only been president of the United States for a few months, but already his press secretary, Sean Spicer, has become more prominent than any White House press secretary in recent memory.

Spicer himself has been largely responsible for that, of course, with a series of rather high-profile faux-pas, but Melissa McCarthy must take some of the credit, with her portrayal of Spicer having created one of the most memorable comic characters of recent times.

McCarthy was back as Spicer on Saturday Night Live last night to deliver an Easter message which sought to apologise for his inflammatory remarks about Adolf Hitler during the week.

Jimmy Kimmel had already taken a swipe at Spicer, but with all due respect to Kimmel, this sketch is a step up, with McCarthy nailing Spicer’s unfortunate tendency to shoot stuff straight out of his mouth without thinking of the consequences.

The more he keeps providing material, the more McCarthy will come out with gems like this.
