It was the breakthrough film for a now legendary director.
Our TV movie pick for this evening (Wednesday, 6 November) is Memento, legendary writer-director Christopher Nolan’s breakthrough neo-noir crime thriller.
The 2000 film follows Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), a former insurance investigator with short-term memory loss as he attempts to track down the man who murdered his wife.
Memento was renowned upon release for its inventive narrative structure, in which much of the story is told in reverse to mirror the mental state of the lead character.
Also boasting terrific supporting performances from Matrix alums Carrie-Anne Moss and Joe Pantoliano, the movie wound up serving as a great calling card for Nolan – who went on to make the Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception and most recently, the Oscar Best Picture winner Oppenheimer.
As we reported recently, all eyes are currently on his mysterious new project set to star Tom Holland.
While we wait for more details on Nolan’s upcoming flick, Memento is airing on TV tonight on Film4 at 11.05pm.
It is also available to stream on Shudder.
