Memory of a Killer, the much-anticipated new action thriller show, has just been handed a UK and Irish release date by Prime Video.
Inspired by the Belgian novel and movie De Zaak Alzheimer (which got a 2022 American adaptation starring Liam Neeson titled Memory), the show stars Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy, Thanksgiving) as Angelo, a man leading a dangerous double life.
As Angelo Flannery, he is a mild-mannered upstate Cooperstown photocopier salesman and devoted father and widower. But as Angelo Doyle, he is a fearsome New York City hitman.
On top of this, Angelo is hiding an even deadlier personal secret: he is slowly losing his memory,
"To further complicate things, he discovers that his wife’s recent death may not have been an accident," the plot synopsis adds.
"When someone comes after his pregnant daughter, Maria (Odeya Rush, Lady Bird), it’s clear the wall between his lives has been breached. Angelo must stop whoever’s coming for his family by searching his past hits for clues, and the list is very long."
Alongside Dempsey, Memory of a Killer co-stars Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, The White Lotus) as Dutch, an accomplished Italian chef whose restaurant is a front for criminal enterprise.
"As ruthless and mercurial as he is affable, Dutch is Angelo’s oldest friend, as well as his employer - he gives Angelo the targets for his hits," the synopsis also states.
"In a business as dangerous as theirs, Angelo must trust Dutch. But being trustworthy isn’t one of Dutch’s more dependable qualities."
The cast of Memory of a Killer also includes Michaela McManus (The Block Island Sound) and Richard Harmon (Final Destination Bloodlines), while the series is showrun by Aaron Zelman and Glenn Kessler (Bloodlines, Damages).
Thanks to its great premise and cast, the action thriller has already become a streaming hit in the United States.
Prime Video has now confirmed that the show will be coming to the UK and Ireland this week on Thursday, 5 February.
The series will launch with its first two episodes, with its subsequent episodes dropping weekly.
