Here’s the situation with The Situation from Jersey Shore – he’s going to prison

Hey kids, remember Jersey Shore?

Roughly a decade ago, MTV cemented their commitment to not actually playing music videos anymore by hitting up New Jersey for a fairly depressing reality TV show.

That event became something of a social phenomenon, paving the way for Geordie Shore, The Valleys (whatever you do, never watch this) and obnoxious quick-fire editing techniques that now haunt modern television.

You might be wondering what the cast of Jersey Shore are up to these days.

In the case of Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, the news isn’t too wonderful as he gets set for a stint in prison.

Page Six reports that Sorrentino was handed an eight-month sentence for income tax evasion on Friday. The 37-year-old pleaded with the judge for leniency,

“I’m deeply sorry for my past actions,” he said.

“Today I’m the man that I should’ve been years ago. I’ve worked tirelessly to overcome my demons and put my life back together.”

The reality TV star went on to note that he was “too inexperienced, under-educated and immature to handle everything that comes with overnight success” but is now a model citizen.

“Today I live with integrity,” Sorrentino said. “I don’t drink, I don’t do drugs, I don’t cheat, I don’t steal, I don’t even drive fast anymore.”

In the end, the judge was unmoved and The Situation will serve his time.

He was also sentenced to two years of supervised release with drug testing and treatment.

On top of that, Sorrentino will have to complete 500 hours of community service when he’s released and pay a $10,000 fine.

Not the best situation, all things considered.

Sorry.
