Universal Pictures are reportedly bringing their next monster movie to Dublin.
If you were out and about in Dublin over the last few days, then chances are you might have crossed paths with Hollywood star Giancarlo Esposito, as he got his tourism on in the days leading up to starting work on his new monster movie project.
Esposito, who you should know from the likes of Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian, took to his Instagram account to share some of his adventures before his Dublin-based work begins:
As for that work, apparently we should be prepared to see a lot more Hollywood royalty about the capital, as Universal are set to film their latest monster movie around Dublin.
As per the report by KPTV, Esposito will be joined by Dan Stevens (Beauty & The Beast, Downton Abbey), Melissa Barrera (Scream VI, In The Heights), Kevin Durand (Robin Hood, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Big Little Lies) and Alisha Weir (Matilda The Musical, Darklands) in the latest Universal monster movie.
While the exact nature of the the monster movie is still being kept under wraps, it is expected to continue the recent trend of recent Universal reimaginings of their classic creatures, including 2020’s The Invisible Man and this year’s Renfield.
The new movie is co-written by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground) and Guy Busick (Ready or Not, Scream VI), will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream V, Scream VI), and is currently scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 19 April 2024.
So if you happen to see any big monsters wandering around Dublin over the next two months or so… now you know why.
