Okay, we’re in.
May brought the exciting, bone-crushing news that Mortal Kombat is set for a long overdue proper big screen reboot.
Not only that, but James Wan of Saw, The Conjuring and a great Fast and the Furious movie is on board to produce.
Details have been scarce enough since that announcement, but we have our first piece of casting information and it’s a damn good one.
Joe Taslim, who has busted heads with great aplomb in the likes of The Raid, Fast and Furious 6 and The Night Comes For Us – which is on Netflix right now and might well be the most violent film this writer has ever seen – has signed on to the project.
As for who he’s playing, well, you’ve read the headline so yes, he’s playing legendary deadly lethal ninja assassin Sub-Zero.
The Hollywood Reporter has the exclusive, noting that Taslim is the first actor to sign onto the project, which is set to start shooting later this year in Australia.
New Line Cinema will release the film on 5 March 2021.
