It’s from the writer of Lethal Weapon.
At long last, it is Saturday.
And if you are staying in tonight, there’s a packed line-up of films playing on telly.
Here’s your options this evening.
The Nice Guys – Film4 – 9pm
Our pick for tonight, this action comedy is set in 70s Los Angeles and centres on a private eye (Ryan Gosling) and a tough enforcer (Russell Crowe) who team up to investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl (Margaret Qualley).
Co-written and directed by Shane Black (who penned the screenplay for Lethal Weapon), The Nice Guys was not a huge hit at the box office when it came out in 2016.
It’s a real shame because the movie – with its zinger-filled screenplay, surprisingly hilarious performances by Crowe and Gosling and twisty mystery – should have really launched a franchise.
Kill Bill: Vol 1 – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm
The first part of Quentin Tarantino’s terrific martial arts epic.
Kingsman: The Secret Service – RTÉ2 – 9pm
The first and best entry in the spy comedy franchise.
