“Forgiveness is between them and God. It’s my job to arrange the meeting.”
The weekend is slowly but surely coming to an end.
Between gigs, shows, and the Rose of Tralee kicking off this weekend, there are probably a few sore heads around the country today.
So save yourself; cancel those plans, order a takeaway, and tuck yourself in for a nice night of cinema before Monday rudely comes around again.
Here are JOE’s top picks for the movies on your TV this Sunday (21 August).
Tomb Raider – ITV2 – 6.45pm
Not the Angelina Jolie version.
My Best Friend’s Wedding – E4 – 6.55pm
Top tip: if you love someone, please tell them before they get engaged.
A Private War – RTÉ Two – 9pm
Rosamund Pike and Jamie Dornan star in this biographical drama about war correspondent Marie Colvin.
Fools Gold – Comedy Central – 9pm
Back when Matthew McConaughey was king of the romcom.
Man on Fire – Film4 – 9pm
Our top pick for tonight is… well, it’s a criminally underrated Denzel Washington film.
We’ve made it no secret that we absolutely adore this action flick, but we’ll happily sing its praises once again.
Critics were very tepid about this release when it first arrived in cinemas 18 years ago, but it has since become a cult favourite.
If you haven’t seen it, amend that tonight.
The Equalizer 2 – RTÉ One – 9.35pm
A much less impressive outing from Denzel this time around. Stick to the above choice.
Weekend at Bernie’s – Virgin Media One – 11pm
Two accountants pull out all the stops to convince everyone their boss is still alive. He was like that when they got there, they swear.
Rocky IV – ITV4 – 11.15pm
The greatest piece of American propaganda put to film.
I Blame Society – Film4 – 11.50pm
They say transferable skills are some of the most important qualities in searching for jobs, but who would have known that being a filmmaker could also make you the perfect murderer.
X+Y – BBC Two – 12.15am
Not to be confused with the Coldplay album, X&Y. Also, search X+Y on Google and see what comes up for a pleasant surprise.
LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
