Both films were nominated for Academy Awards when they released.

The Bank Holiday is finally here.

We hope you’re taking advantage of the long weekend and the long rests.

You’ve probably already been out a few times this weekend, so you’ve earned a night in.

And there really is no better way to take it easy than to kick back with a good film.

Here’s JOE’s top picks for the movies on TV this Bank Holiday Sunday (5 June).

Wayne’s World 1+2 – Great! Movies – 4.50pm, 6.55pm

Double party time! Double excellent!

The Fifth Element – Channel 5 – 5.35pm

A taxi driver is suddenly responsible for the fate of the world. As you do.

Madagascar – ITV2 – 5.50pm

A great film for anyone who likes to move it, move it.

License to Kill – RTÉ2 – 6.05pm

Timothy Dalton’s final outing as Bond.

Independence Day: Resurgence – Channel 4 – 6.45pm

“Welcome BACK to Earth.”

Skyfall – ITV2 – 6.30pm

Essentially a love letter to Bond, within a Bond film.

Central Intelligence – E4 – 9pm

A harmless bit of fun from Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart.

Ape Vs Monster – SyFy – 9pm

It’s totally not a knockoff of Godzilla vs Kong. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

Crocodile Dundee II – Comedy Central – 9pm

The Croc Strikes Back.

The Grand Budapest Hotel / The Royal Tenenbaums – Great! Movies – 9pm, 11.05pm

Our top pick for tonight is a Wes Anderson double bill, with two of his most acclaimed films being shown back to back.

While both films are focused on significantly different stories and were made more than 10 years apart, they both carry classic tropes of Anderson’s filmmaking.

Whimsical plots, ensemble casts, and wonderful directing; if you haven’t caught any Wes Anderson films before, here’s a great place to start.

Radioactive – BBC Two – 9.30pm

An excellent performance from Rosamund Pike, but just don’t take the film as historically accurate.

The Hustle – RTÉ One – 9.30pm

A very, very bad remake of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Predator – ITV4 – 10pm

Arnie vs Alien.

King Of Thieves – BBC One – 11.10pm

A load of propa’ blokes try to do a propa’ heist.

The Boys from Brazil – Virgin Media Three – 2.05am

The premise for this thriller is so insane, you should watch it out of pure curiosity.
