Crucial info if you’re staying in tonight.

Saturday nights are not what they once were, so why not just settle down and watch a movie?

Here’s what Saturday has to offer.

The BGF – 7.05pm – RTÉ One

An orphaned girl befriends a benevolent giant, who takes her off to a magical land in this Spielberg adaptation of the classic Roald Dahl story.

X Men 2- 9pm – E4

A decent flick, but not the best of the superhero movies on the box tonight.

40 Days 40 Nights – Comedy Central – 9pm

A man vows to give up all things sexual for Lent following a heart-rending break-up. It’s alright.

The Post – 9.15pm – Channel Four

Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sarah Paulson and Bob Odenkirk star in this brilliant film that tells the story of what went on in the Washington Post before, during and after the Pentagon Papers saga. Definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it.

Quantum of Solace – 9.40pm – RTÉ One

Is there some sort of law that means there has to be a James Bond movie on TV every single day? Ah well, we’re not complaining.

You Only Live Twice – 9pm – UTV

ANOTHER ONE!?

Mountains of the Moon – 10.05pm – TG4

An epic period drama starring Patrick Bergin, Iain Glen and Richard E Grant. The film depicts the 1857–58 journey of Richard Francis Burton and John Hanning Speke in their expedition to Central Africa.

Iron Man 3 – 10.20pm – BBC One

Not one of the greatest films from the MCU, but definitely an enjoyable watch nonetheless. Robert Downey Jr is brilliant in the role he was born to play.

Role Models – 10.40pm – Sky Comedy

Without a doubt the funniest movie to choose from tonight. Paul Rudd at his very best a fairly hilarious comedy.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
