Meet the Parents – RTÉ2 – 9pm
Robert De Niro shows off his comedy chops in this fun movie about the horror of meeting your girlfriend’s parents.
Meet the Fockers – Sky Showcase – 9pm
Meanwhile, this decent if less funny sequel to Meet the Parents adds Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman to the mix.
Infinite – Channel 4 – 9pm
This 2021 sci-fi action flick starring Mark Wahlberg has a low 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, which means you may want to avoid it.
40 Days and 40 Nights – Comedy Central – 9pm
In this romantic comedy, a young man (Josh Hartnett) vows to stay celibate during the forty days of Lent after a bad break-up.

Only the Lonely – TG4 – 9.30pm
Written and directed by Chris Columbus (Home Alone), this romantic comedy-drama follows a bachelor (John Candy) who is looking to settle down with a mortuary beautician (Ally Sheedy), while coping with his overbearing mother (Maureen O’Hara) who does not approve of her.
Jackass 3.5 – Comedy Central – 10.50pm
A reality comedy movie comprising of unused footage and stunts shot with Johnny Knoxville and co for Jackass 3.
Platoon – ITV4 – 11pm
Our pick for tonight is this 1986 movie focusing on a young US Army recruit (Charlie Sheen, again) in Vietnam who finds himself caught in a battle of wills between two sergeants, one good (Willem Dafoe) and the other evil (Tom Berenger).
Based on the movie’s writer and director Oliver Stone’s own experience serving in the Vietnam war, Platoon’s stunning central performances, enhanced realism and tense-as-hell battle sequences led it to win four Oscars, including the Best Picture award.
Life of the Party – RTÉ2 – 11pm
This Melissa McCarthy comedy follows a newly divorced mother who returns to college in order to complete her degree.
Sleepless – Channel 4 – 11.05pm
In this solid crime thriller taking place over the course of one night, Jamie Foxx plays a cop with a connection to the criminal underworld who must rescue his kidnapped son.
Dirty Harry – Turner Classic Movies – 11.15pm
This iconic action thriller follows Inspector “Dirty” Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) as he hunts down a serial killer terrorising San Francisco.
Spell – Film4 – 11.15pm
In this 2020 supernatural horror thriller, a man (Omari Hardwick) crash lands in rural Appalachia and awakens to find himself trapped in the attic of a witch (Loretta Devine).

Michelle Monaghan and Patrick Dempsey star in this rom-com with a lowly 16% Rotten Tomatoes score.
The Notebook – BBC One – 11.55pm
Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling star in this classic romantic drama based on the Nicholas Sparks novel of the same name.
