Movies on TV Thursday 21 March

Box office.

The sun is shining.

Well, here and there, anyway.

Spring is kicking into gear. Drake is spending a few days in the capital. Brexit still means Brexit. It’s all happening.

Also happening is the usual rundown of noteworthy films on your television screen, so let’s see what’s on the box on this Thursday 21 March…

Shooter – Film 4 – 9pm

Accomplished military marksman Mark Wahlberg puts his particular set of skills to the test as he battles a government conspiracy by shooting things.

From Dusk till Dawn – SyFy – 10pm

If you’ve somehow gone 23 years without knowing the twist that arrives around the midway point of From Dusk till Dawn, we won’t go and spoil it now.

Suffice to say that the Robert Rodriguez-directed, Clooney, Tarantino, Keitel and Hayek-starring crime thriller gets very bloody and crazy indeed before daylight arrives.

The Dirty Dozen – ITV4 – 10.15pm

World War II is hell as Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson and Donald Sutherland lead a death-defying charge on a Nazi stronghold.

Goodfellas – TCM – 11pm

Recently added to Netflix, but still good enough for the TV listings.

Man on Fire – Film 4 – 11.25pm

Denzel Washington’s best role? Training Day fans might have something to say on that score, but Washington’s wounded bodyguard John Creasy brought forth an unforgettable performance.

Drenched in Tony Scott’s signature caffeinated visuals, Man on Fire succeeds as both a gripping action thriller and a poignant drama. We’re big fans of this one, you know.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
