If you’re looking to have a cosy night in for this Bank Holiday Sunday, there’s no better way to kick back than with a great flick. Fortunately, there are heaps of brilliant movies on TV tonight, we’re absolutely spoiled for choice.

Take a look below for the best options of the telly this evening.

Australia – Great! Movies – 5.50pm

Set in northern Australia before WWII, an Englishwoman who inherits a sprawling ranch reluctantly pacts with a stock-man in order to drive 2,000 head of cattle over unforgiving landscapes. Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman star.

The Man with the Golden Gun – RTÉ2 – 6.10pm

Roger Moore returns as 007 to face off with the titular assassin Francisco Scaramanga, while attempting to recover sensitive solar cell technology that is being sold to the highest bidder.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift  – ITV2 – 6.55pm

A standalone sequel in the giant Fast franchise, Tokyo Drift centres on a car enthusiast sent to live in Tokyo with his estranged father, where he finds solace exploring the city’s drifting community. A decent flick with its lasting legacy being an absolute banger of a title song by the Teriyaki Boyz.

Shrek 2 – E4 – 7.10pm

The newly-married green ogre returns to meet the in-laws and Fiona’s Fairy Godmother, who wants Fiona to marry her son Prince Charming and plots to destroy Shrek and Fiona’s marriage.

Deadpool 2 – Film4 – 9pm

The foul-mouthed superhero returns to form the X-Force to protect a young mutant from the time-traveling soldier Cable (played by Josh Brolin).

Red 2 – Great! Movies – 9pm

Featuring an all-star cast of Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Lee Byung-hun, Anthony Hopkins, and Helen Mirren, Red 2 follows an unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device.

Jaws 2 – ITV4 – 9.10pm

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water… Probably the best of the Jaws sequels, but nowhere near as good as the original, Jaws 2 sees Roy Scheider returning as Police Chief Martin Brody to once again face off with a Great White attacking Amity Island residents.

Mechanic: Resurrection – E4 – 11pm

Very watchable but ultimately not as good as the original, this action-packed thriller sees Jason Statham return as hitman Arthur Bishop who needs to pull off a series of assassinations in order to save his kidnapped love.

Escape From Alcatraz – Turner Classic Movies – 11.05pm

This 1979 classic stars Clint Eastwood as Frank Morris, a criminal sent to Alcatraz – one of the most secure prisons of its time. While it is believed that no one could ever possibly escape from the jail, Frank and two others hatch an ambitious plan to do just that.

The Wife – BBC2 – 11.15pm

Our pick of the movies on TV tonight features a powerhouse performance from Glenn Close which garnered multiple awards in this 2017 flick.

Close stars as an aging woman who questions her life choices as she travels to Stockholm with her husband, who is set to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. Close’s incredible performance in this drama won the  Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, Independent Spirit Award and Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress.

Following their relationship over 40 years, the bubbling tension and chemistry between Close and her co-star Jonathan Pryce is worth the ticket price alone.

Blood Simple – Film4 – 11.20pm

Joel and Ethan Coen’s debut film focuses on the owner of a seedy small-town Texas bar who plots to have his wife and one of his employees murdered after he discovers that they’re having an affair.

Platoon – ITV4 – 11.30pm

Possibly one of the greatest ever war films and winner of four Academy Awards, Platoon stars Charlie Sheen as a Vietnam soldier caught in a battle of morality between two sergeants.

It is the first film of a trilogy of Vietnam War films directed by Oliver Stone, followed by Born on the Fourth of July (1989) and Heaven & Earth (1993).

Mr & Mrs Smith – Channel 4 – 11.55pm

Known more for the drama involving stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie following its release than the movie itself, this spy comedy follows a bored married couple who figure out they’re both spies when they’re assigned with assassinating one another.

Beatriz at Dinner – BBC1 – 12.30am

Drama starring Selma Hayek as a holistic medicine practitioner who attends a wealthy client’s dinner party after her car breaks down. John Lithgow, Connie Britton, Jay Duplass, Amy Landecker, Chloë Sevigny, and David Warshofsky all star.

The American Friend – Film 4 – 1.15am

Dennis Hopper stars as a wealthy American living in Hamburg who coerces a terminally ill picture framer into becoming a hitman.
