Now is actually a great time to catch up with the original in the franchise.
Netflix has just added 31 very big movies to its library, including the ultimate ’90s flick.
However, if none of these are for you, here are the films airing on TV tonight.
Mission: Impossible III / American Made – Film4 – 9pm / 11.30pm
It’s a Tom Cruise double bill on Film4.
Lethal Weapon 4 – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm
As of now, the last film to be released in the Mel Gibson and Danny Glover-fronted buddy cop franchise.
Narrow Margin – Legend – 9pm
A ’90s neo-noir action thriller starring Anne Archer and Gene Hackman.
Nomads – Horror Xtra – 9pm
Pierce Brosnan stars in this ’80s horror that was the debut film of director John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator).
Mamma Mia! – RTÉ One – 9.35pm
The smash hit musical rom-com based around ABBA songs.
Insidious – Sky Max – 10pm
Our pick for tonight is this 2010 movie about a married couple (Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne) who move into a new home with their son (Ty Simpkins) but wind up becoming plagued by demonic entities.
Things get more complicated, however, when it becomes clear that “it’s not the house that’s haunted”.
Directed by horror legend James Wan (The Conjuring, Malignant, Saw), Insidious features great performances and several terrifying moments, while also putting a new twist on an old formula.
The film is also currently in the news as a new entry in the franchise – Insidious: The Red Door – is out in cinemas this week, with Wilson directing the sequel.

Meru – TG4 – 10.30pm
This 2015 documentary from the directors of the Oscar-winning Free Solo chronicles the first ascent of the Shark’s Fin route on Meru Peak in the Indian Himalayas.
The One – Legend – 10.55pm
An action flick that sees Jet Li enter the multiverse. Jason Statham is also there for support. 13% on Rotten Tomatoes means you should probably avoid this.
Lucky Numbers – AMC UK – 11pm
This black comedy crime film starring John Travolta and Lisa Kudrow was panned by critics and was a major box office bomb.
The Possession – Sky Sci-Fi – 11pm
Another supernatural horror about a family afflicted by evil spirits, this time starring The Walking Dead’s Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The Railway Man – BBC One – 11.40pm
In this well-reviewed drama, Colin Firth plays a man determined to track down the person who tortured him during WWII.
