Dave Hanratty

Sunday.

Movies.

Let’s see what’s on the box on Sunday, 4 September…

Catch Me If You Can – Film4 – 6.15pm

Tom Hanks is hot on the trail of cocky young con man Leonardo DiCaprio in Steven Spielberg’s well-liked caper.

Little Women – E4 – 6.20pm

Recent, award-nominated adaptation of the classic novel with Saoirse Ronan among the bright young cast.

For a Few Dollars More – ITV4 – 9pm

Clint Eastwood in a classic Western.

Vice – RTÉ 2 – 9pm

Christian Bale plays US Vice President Dick Cheney with tongue firmly in cheek.

Full Metal Jacket – Turner Classic Movies – 9pm

War, truly, is hell.

American Pie 2 – Comedy Central – 9pm

Everyone wants a slice of the action.

The Sum of All Fears – Film4 – 9pm

Ben Affleck IS Jack Ryan in a fairly humdrum nuclear-themed thriller.

X-Men: Apocalypse – Channel 4 – 11.15pm

Our main choice on a let’s be honest poor enough evening for movies on TV.

The great Oscar Isaac is buried in bad make-up as the titular villain in what was handily the worst X-Men movie until Dark Phoenix followed it a couple of years later. Bad franchise for the most part, this one!

Isaac’s nonsense performance is kind of fun, though? Maybe?

Like a Boss – Film4 – 11.20pm

Tiffany Haddish leads the line in a comedy this writer has never heard of before.

I Spit on Your Grave – Legend – Midnight

Revenge-fuelled horror remake. Much less controversial than the original.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
