Your Thursday evening movie menu has arrived.
Moooooooooooooooooooooooooovies…. on TV!
Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World – FilmFour – 7.20pm
Our big pick tonight is Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. A fantastic naval war action adventure fronted by Russell Crowe, with a hefty $150 million budget, it unfortunately didn’t set the box office alight, meaning we didn’t get any of the sequels. There are TWENTY BOOKS that could have been adapted had we all turned up for them! If you miss it tonight, Master and Commander is also available to watch on Disney+.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army – ITV4 – 10pm
The superior sequel which sees the horned hero take on a raging army of powerful fairies.
Military Wives – FilmFour – 10pm
Sharon Horgan and Kristen Scott Thomas star in this true life drama about a group of wives of soldiers who set up a choir while their partners are fighting in Afghanistan.
Private Benjamin – Comedy Central – 10pm
Goldie Hawn was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar for this comedy about a young woman who joins the army on a whim, and gets A LOT more than she bargained for.
Species – Sky Sci-Fi – 10pm
A sexy alien tries to have sexy times with some humans so she can create a new little alien army to take out mankind. Dumb but fun.
The Edge of Love – BBC Four – 12.15am
Keira Knightley, Cillian Murphy and Sienna Miller star in this poorly reviewed romantic drama.
Hustlers – FilmFour – 12.15am
A fantastic crime drama centred around a group of exotic dancers (lead by Jennifer Lopez) who pull an elaborate series of scams on their rich clients.
Death Wish V: The Face of Death – ITV4 – 12.20am
It has a rare 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, so… could it be so-bad-its-good? Unlikely.
