Sunday night means movie night.
One more night of movies before we’re back to the new week! Best to pick the best of the bunch and get cosy on the couch…
Housesitter – Comedy Central – 8pm
The first of two Goldie Hawn movies on tonight. In this one, she plays a con artist who moves into an empty mansion, pretending to be the owner’s wife. Things get complicated when the owner (Steve Martin) returns and decides to play along.
Sister Act – Channel 4 – 9pm
Whoopi Goldberg burns a small hole in the screen thanks to her endless charisma in this fun musical comedy.
Creed II – RTE2 – 9pm
The very decent sports sequel which sees Adonis Creed (Michael B. Jordan) train with Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) to go up against Victor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren), the man who killed Adonis’ father Apollo all those years ago.
SWAT – FilmFour – 10pm
Our big pick for tonight is SWAT, a very entertaining action thriller starring Colin Farrell, Samuel L. Jackson, Michelle Rodriguez and Jeremy Renner. Farrell stars as a member of a SWAT team transporting a dangerous criminal, who gives an open bounty for millions of dollars to every criminal in the city, to be paid to the first of them to free him from the armed transport bringing him to prison. If you miss it tonight, SWAT is also available to watch on Netflix.
The Expendables – Sky Showcase – 10pm
Stallone’s second movie tonight, this one is kind of like an Old Age Suicide Squad, but without any of the superpowers.
Species – Sky Sci-Fi – 10pm
A trashy but incredibly entertaining sci-fi horror about an alien, disguising itself as a beautiful woman (Natasha Henstridge) who wants to mate with a human so it can get pregnant with little killer alien babies.
Private Benjamin – Comedy Central – 10pm
The second Goldie Hawn movie on tonight. I checked, it isn’t her birthday, so… I dunno.
The Predator – Channel 4 – 10.55pm
A truly quite bad sci-fi action horror with a team of misfit soldiers trying to hunt down the intergalactic killer. Just watch Prey on Disney+ instead.
Bandits – FilmFour – 12.20am
Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett star in this very fun heist comedy thriller.
Equals – BBC One – 1.25am
In a future where people aren’t allowed to feel feelings anymore, two people – Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hault – try to break the rules by… having feelings and falling in love. Yawn.
