Your Tuesday evening movies menu has arrived!

Not sure what to watch this evening? Don’t stress, we’ve got you covered! Amazon Prime Video has just added 21 big movies to its library, while Netflix has added a dozen to its library! But if none of those take your fancy, then here are the best movies on TV to choose from this evening, starting with…

Star Trek Beyond – FilmFour – 6.40pm

The third and likely final outing for the recent rebooted Star Trek movies, which sees Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana and the rest of the sexy new cast crash land on an alien planet, being hunted by a dangerous villain played by Idris Elba.

Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind – Sky Showcase – 9pm

A documentary on the life and career on Robin Williams, mostly told through previously unseen footage of him performing and during his personal time.

Olympus Has Fallen – FilmFour – 9pm

Gerard Butler is the only man who can stop terrorists from taking over America in this fun-but-dumb remake of Die Hard, if it were set in the White House.

Get Him to the Greek – Comedy Central – 9pm

The semi-sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall focuses on the rocker played by Russell Brand, and his constantly put-upon personal assistant played by Jonah Hill. Very funny in places.

Free Guy – RTÉ2 – 9.30pm

Our pick of the night is this very fun action/sci-fi adventure that arrived pretty much smack bang in the middle of the pandemic. Ryan Reynolds plays a man who discovers he is merely a character in a video game, so he teams up with a player (controlled/played by Jodie Comer) to devise a way to escape.

From director Shawn Levy (one of the guys behind Stranger Things, and he got the Deadpool 3 gig off the back of this), the movie also stars Taika Waititi, Joe Keery, Lil’ Rey Howery and LOADS of brilliant cameos. Plus it features some genuinely eye-popping action sequences and great visual gags.

Mad Max 2 – ITV4 – 11.05pm

The post-apocalyptic sequel ups the budget, and the amount of revealing leather outfits.

Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool – BBC Two – 11.15pm

Annette Bening headlines this true story of an ageing actress who finds love with a younger man (played by Jamie Bell), but has her life turned upside down upon being diagnosed with breast cancer.

Body Brokers – FilmFour – 11.20pm

We’ve literally never heard of this 2021 crime drama before. 61% on Rotten Tomatoes, it stars Frank Grillo, Michael Kenneth Williams and Alice Englert, and is about a shady corporation using addicts to recruit other addicts into their dealings.
