Your Wednesday evening movie viewing menu has arrived!

Turns out today, Wednesday 9 November, is actually a pretty big day for stuff.

The brand new season of The Crown has been added to Netflix, arguably the biggest game of 2022 is released today, and it is also the 15-year anniversary of one of the best thrillers ever made (which you can watch at home right now).

But if none of those tickle your fancy, here are all of the movies on TV for you to enjoy this evening, starting with…

We Bought A Zoo – FilmFour – 6.35pm

After his wife’s death, a man (Matt Damon) buys a house, which happens to be attached to a zoo. So he takes it upon himself to renovate the zoo so it is suitable to be opened to the public again. Co-starring Scarlett Johansson, it is a cute enough comedy-drama.

The Expendables – TCM – 9pm

Stallone gathers a load of his old action mates for this old-school explode ’em up.

Le Mans ’66 – FilmFour – 9pm

Matt Damon again, this time joined by Christian Bale, for a brilliant based-on-a-true-story sports biopic about the Ford racing team who want to defeat the long time champions Ferrari in the titular race.

The Five-Year Engagement – Comedy Central Extra – 9pm

Our pick of the night is this romantic comedy about a man (Jason Segel) and a woman (Emily Blunt) who get engaged one year after meeting, but their individual lives keeps pushing their potential marriage further and further into the future, until they’re both forced to rethink their choices.

The movie co-stars Kevin Hart, Chris Pratt, Mindy Kaling, Alison Brie, Rhys Ifans, Dakota Johnson and Jacki Weaver, and is directed and co-written by Nicholas Stoller, who JOE recently chatted to about his latest rom-com, BROS:

2001: A Space Odyssey – TCM – 11.10pm

Literally one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time.

Wild Indian – FilmFour – 12.05am

With a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, this drama about two best friends who work together to cover up a brutal crime is a tough but powerful watch.

Jane Got A Gun – FilmFour – 1.50am

When a gang of violent outlaws (headed by Ewan McGregor) aim to murder her husband, Jane (Natalie Portman) must turn to her ex (Joel Edgerton) to defend her home and her family.

Professor Marston and the Wonder Women – Channel 4 – 2.25am

Richard Gere stars as the famous psychologist who creates the comic book character Wonder Woman, having learned about his wife’s feminist feminist leanings. 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, just FYI.

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
