There is a lot of great talent involved in the series.

Prime Video has revealed a first look at its upcoming action comedy series Mr. & Mrs. Smith which comes from creator Donald Glover (Atlanta) and is based on the 2005 hit movie of the same name.

The original film starred Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as a bored married couple surprised to learn that they are both assassins working for competing agencies and that they have been assigned to kill each other.

Grossing over $487 million at the box office on a $110 million budget, there has been talk of an expansion on the blockbuster for the years, which is finally set to arrive on the small screen courtesy of Glover and his fellow Atlanta writer Francesca Sloane.

Glover will also star in the series in the Pitt role, while Maya Eskrine (Pen15) will take on Jolie’s part. Eskrine replaced Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who was initially cast as the co-lead of the show before exiting the project.

Also among the actors to appear in the series are John Turturro (Severance), Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), Parker Posey (The Staircase), Paul Dano (The Fabelmans) and Wagner Moura (Narcos).

Consisting of eight episodes – the first two of which will be directed by Hiro Murai (Atlanta, Barry) – Mr. and Mrs. Smith will land on Prime Video sometime in November 2023.
