The 2023 Emmy nominations have been announced, with Irish comedy-drama series Bad Sisters earning nods in several categories.

Sharon Horgan, the show’s co-creator and star, received two nominations – one for Best Actress in a Drama Series category and the other for co-writing the series’ pilot episode – titled ‘The Prick’ – alongside Dave Finkel and Brett Baer.

Irish director Dearbhla Walsh was also nominated for her work on the Bad Sisters’ pilot. Meanwhile, Beef, one of the best, and highest-rated, shows on Netflix, received 13 nominations.

Ireland was also represented at the awards in another category, with director Declan Lowney (who shot most of Father Ted) earning a nod for helming the final episode of the sports sitcom Ted Lasso.

Leading the Emmy nominations is the hit drama Succession which received 27 nominations for its critically acclaimed fourth and final season.

Sci-fi horror drama The Last of Us earned 24 nominations, while The White Lotus‘ Sicily-set second season was also nominated 23 times.
