The rumoured cast for Deadpool 3 is absolutely bonkers

Deadpool 3

The Deadpool threequel should have superhero movie fans losing their minds with excitement.

Deadpool 3 has had its cinematic release date move forward by several months, now set to arrive on the big screen on 3 May 2024, leading many to believe that Marvel are mega confident they’ve got a huge hit on their hands.

The last time we saw Wade “Merc With A Mouth” Wilson, he was jumping through the multiverse to clean up some loose ends – which included killing an alternate version of himself from X-Men Origins: Wolverine – so he’s already been ahead of the curve of that particular plot element that has proven to be so popular in the genre since then.

While the actual plot of the third movie is still being kept entirely under wraps, we can actually start to piece some of it together from the confirmed returning cast, the confirmed new additions, and the rumoured new additions to these movies. Starting with…

Returning cast:

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool – we’ll start out with the most obvious one here, because of course Reynolds will be back as the titular hero.

Morena Baccarin as Vanessa – as will his girlfriend from the first two movies, and the entire plot reason why Deadpool broke the time/space barriers in the first sequel.

Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead – the sullen teenager with hugely explosive abilities is also confirmed to return for the threequel.

Leslie Uggams as Blind Al – Deadpool’s old lady housemate who also has a massive crush on the antihero will be back.

Karan Soni as Dopinder – Deadpool’s biggest fan/unofficial chauffeur.

Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio – NTW’s girlfriend and one of the members of this timeline’s version of the X-Men, who we all first met in Deadpool 2.

Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus – the big shiny metal dude and another of the very few official members of the X-Men to get involved in Deadpool’s antics… so far, at least…

Rob Delaney as Peter – when Deadpool haphazardly put together the X-Force in Deadpool 2, the apparently powerless Peter was one of the only members to survive. Will he be that lucky this time around?

Confirmed additions:

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine – yep, despite (spoilers) being killed off in 2017’s Logan, Jackman is confirmed to return as the iconic character, although in what is described as being a very different version to the Wolverine we’ve met before.

Jennifer Garner as Elektra – this was the latest confirmed revelation, and it came as a huge shock to everyone. Last seen in 2005’s self-titled flop spin-off to Daredevil, this is further fuel to the fire that this Deadpool movie will be killing off some of the previous Marvel movie universes.

Emma Corrin as TBD – best known for playing Princess Diana in the fourth season of The Crown, apparently Corrin will be playing one of the primary villains in Deadpool 3, but who that might be remains to be seen.

Matthew Macfadyen as TBD – rumour has it that the Succession actor will be portraying an agent of the Time Variation Authority (TVA), hunting down Wade Wilson across the multiverse. But, again, it is just a rumour right now.

Rumoured additions:

Channing Tatum as Gambit – for the longest time, Tatum was lined up to play the kinetically-charged hero, with the actor officially confirmed in a huge Marvel showcase in 2014. By 2019, the movie had been cancelled, but apparently Tatum will appear as the character here, having previously played a bit part in Ryan Reynolds’ hit movie Free Guy, directed by the same guy directing Deadpool 3.

Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier – another actor who had previously said goodbye to their character in 2017’s Logan, Stewart did reprise the role for last year’s Doctor Strange sequel, and rumour has it that he’ll be back one last last time.

Ian McKellan as Magneto – McKellan hasn’t played the legendary antagonist since 2014’s Days Of Future Past, but if this sequel is indeed putting an end to the existing X-Men universe, then it makes sense to say farewell to him here.

Halle Berry as Storm – Berry posted a photo on Instagram with white hair, leading many to believe she was returning as the weather-controlling mutant.

James Marsden as Cyclops – an unsubstantiated post on Twitter claimed that Berry wasn’t the only OG X-Men performer to return.

Famke Janssen as Jean Grey – same goes for Janssen, who – along with Marsden – returned for Days Of Future Past, and was one of the core crew for that original X-Men trilogy.

Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius – considering the TVA’s rumoured involvement, that rumour has now extended to bringing in Wilson’s character from the Loki show, as that was his job in that series, too.

Tara Strong as the voice of Miss Minutes – the sentient sorta-computer/clock thing from Loki is also getting mentioned thanks to a particular Twitter interaction.

Ben Affleck as Daredevil – with Affleck having recently said goodbye to Batman, and the return of Elektra, plus another (rumour!) that Affleck was spotted on the Deadpool 3 set, apparently he’ll be popping up here too!

Jessica Alba as Invisible Woman – the other major franchise of the previous Marvel movies would be bringing back the previous Fantastic Four cast.

Ioan Gruffudd as Mister Fantastic – because it seems more likely they’ll invite this iteration back instead of the megaflop one with Miles Teller and Kate Mara.

Chris Evans as The Human Torch – Evans has proven to be a game for cameos – Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: The Dark World – and he also popped up in Free Guy as himself.
