The best stand-up comedy special of the year so far has been added to Netflix

If you’ve never heard of John Mulaney, then you’re in for a treat.

John Mulaney’s second Netflix special Kid Gorgeous, recorded in New York’s iconic Radio City venue, dropped on Netflix this week.

The online streaming giant has produced specials for some big name acts this year, including Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle, but 35-year-old Chicagoan Mulaney blows them all out of the water.

Mulaney’s humour often involves pulling unexpected punchlines seemingly out of thin air, and making the audience think differently about simple concepts they’ve taken for granted their whole life — such as school assembly, computers and college fees.

Mulaney also delivers a spectacular ten-minute take on Trump, whom he compares to a horse loose in a hospital — an analogy that becomes all the more apt once he talks the audience through it.

There’s also a pretty damn accurate bit about what it’s like to attend a Catholic mass, which should be pretty damn relatable to an Irish audience.

If you end up enjoying Kid Gorgeous, you’re in luck — because Mulaney’s previous stand-up special The Comeback Kid is also available on Netflix, and features some pretty spectacular bits on buying a home, Back To The Future, and the time a young Mulaney met Bill Clinton.
