Film fans can now get in the thick of the action.

Cards on the table, this writer worked in a cinema for a number of years.

As a film-lover, it was perfect, because you were normally surrounded by other film-lovers, so when you were at work, you’d spend most of the day talking about the new movies and trailers, and then you’d have access to cheaper or free screenings yourself, which only made it all the sweeter.

Honestly, it was the perfect job for those with even a passing interest in films, which makes the news that Galway’s new luxury cinema is hosting an open recruitment day this week.

As we previously reported, Omniplex Cinemas, Ireland’s largest multiplex chain, will begin the development of the new and luxurious cinema at Baily Point in Salthill , which is set to cost €5 million.

This will be Omniplex’s 29th cinema on these shores will be Ireland’s first ten-screen reclining cinema.

The cinema will be created as part of a 30,000 sq. ft development and a phased opening is scheduled this summer, with the venue itself set to pay homage to the Hollywood era with a luxury 1920s design and feel.

The cinema chain will hold an open day for recruitment on Friday 21 June in the Salthill Hotel Galway from 10am to 4pm.

They are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious people apply, where you can enjoy working in a family-run business with lots of opportunities.
