Some tremendous additions if you’re looking for something to watch!

We don’t have long to wait until Amazon Prime Video adds the prequel series to The Lord of the Rings, but before then, we do have some movies added to the library to check out, starting with…

AMELIE

This French-language romantic comedy drama is one of the most adorable movies ever made. Very much worth checking out.

THE BELIEVER

Ryan Gosling headlines this based-on-a-true-story drama about a young Jewish man who begins to develop strong anti-Semitic views.

THE BROTHERS GRIMSBY

Sasha Baron Cohen and Mark Strong headline this terrible, terrible comedy. Avoid.

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

After years of raising his kids in the woods, a father (Viggo Mortensen) is forced to bring them all back into the “real” world.

COUPLES RETREAT

Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman and Kristin Davis star in this comedy about a group of couples trying to work out their relationship woes on a paradise island.

DON’T MAKE ME GO

When he finds out he is suffering from a terminal illness, a father (John Cho) embarks on a road trip with his teenage daughter to reunite her with her estranged mother. You will cry.

ENDER’S GAME

This 2013 sci-fi movie brought Harrison Ford back into the genre for the first time since Return of the Jedi. That is about the only interesting thing in this otherwise messy movie about kids going to space war.

EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS

Ridley Scott directs this biblical epic with Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Pharaoh Ramses. Some fantastic visuals, but nothing else you haven’t seen done better before.

THE FIGHTER

A brilliant sports drama starring Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams and Christian Bale.

HOW IT ENDS

When she discovers that a meteorite is about to end all life on Earth, a woman (Zoe Lister-Jones) takes stock of her life, which involves a lot of random interactions with famous celebrities – from Helen Hunt to Glenn Howerton to Olivia Wilde.

THE IDES OF MARCH

George Clooney directs and stars in this political drama about a young staffer (Ryan Gosling) who gets a crash course in dirty politics once he starts to work for a presidential hopeful (Clooney).

THE ISLAND

The inhabitants of a post-apocalyptic base believe they’re being safely transported to an idyllic island, but two of the people there (Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson) discover there is something much worse going on. Michael Bay’s big sci-fi action thriller, it is actually a dumb but fun watch.

THE LOVE PUNCH

Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson headline this entertaining rom-com about a divorced couple trying to steal back the retirement money that was taken from them.

MAD MAX II

The apocalyptic sequel has Mel Gibson going up against the most heavily S&M-inspired villain of all time, Lord Humungous.

NIGHT HUNTER

Henry Cavill, Ben Kingsley and Alexandra Daddario star in this 2018 action thriller. We’ve never heard of it before. 14% on Rotten Tomatoes probably explains why.

PACIFIC RIM

Giant monsters are trying to kill the planet, and the only way to stop them is with giant robots, giving them giant punches to the face.

PARKER

Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez star in this fun action thriller.

QUARTET

Directed by Dustin Hoffman, this comedy-drama features a great cast (Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, Billy Connolly) as ageing performers is a home for retired musicians.

TAMARA DREWE

A cute rom-com-dram about a young newspaper writer (Gemma Arterton) who returns to her childhood home in the countryside before it goes on sale, and reunites with some former (and future?) flames.
