We also now reportedly know who is in the running to play Lois Lane.
Following the appointment of
James Gunn as co-chairman and co-CEO of
DC Studios last year, it was announced that the filmmaker would write and direct
Superman: Legacy, a blockbuster that would see a new actor play the titular hero.
And now that he has wrapped up his press tour for
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, it seems as though Gunn is closer to finding not only the new Clark Kent but also the new Lois Lane.
Deadline reports that insiders close to the casting process are saying that the first in-person tests with Gunn and his co-DC Studios chairman and CEO Peter Safran will be happening around Father’s Day weekend or the Monday or Tuesday after.

The actors expected to test for Clark Kent/Superman are
Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road,
Renfield),
David Corenswet (Hollywood, Pearl) and
Tom Brittney (Grantchester, Greyhound), while the actresses
Emma Mackey (Barbie, Sex Education),
Rachel Brosnahan (House of Cards, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) and
Phoebe Dynevor (Bridgerton, Fair Play) are believed to be testing for Lois Lane.
According to Deadline, these actors have already submitted audition tapes for their desired roles. The outlet also reports, citing sources, that some of the test deals are still under negotiation but that currently, these are the performers likely to take part in the in-person tests.

Exact plot details for Superman: Legacy are being kept under wraps but Safran
previously said the following about the superhero movie:
"This is really the start of the DCU. It’s not an origins story, it focuses on Superman’s balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.
"He’s the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, he’s kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old fashioned."
Superman: Legacy is set to fly into cinemas on 11 July 2025.
