The new trailer for Scorsese’s gangster epic The Irishman is absolutely spectacular

Paul Moore

The Irishman

Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. It’s coming to Netflix in November.

With such a stellar cast and Martin ‘fricking’ Scorsese directing, The Irishman was always going to find a massive audience, but it’s inclusion on Netflix means that interest in the drama is higher than most films.

Granted, the first trailer did an excellent job at raising the excitement levels, but the latest footage really does heavily lean into Frank Sheeran’s life of crime.

We also get a more in-depth look at the de-aging process that Scorsese has used on the main cast members. There’s also a little bit more focus given to Al Pacino’s role as Jimmy Hoffa and Joe Pesci’s performance as Russell Bufalino.

To complete things, there’s a heavy sprinkling of all the ingredients that we all love so much about the gangster drama.

Violence, drugs, power, murder, wealth, betrayal, vengeance, extravagance… you know, the good stuff!

For those interested in a more in-depth look at the real life story that inspired the film, JOE has previously talked at length about the life of Frank Sheeran and interviewed the author of I Heard You Paint Houses, Charles Brandt.

All that’s left to say is that The Irishman is coming to Netflix on 27 November and the latest trailer looks spectacular.

Plot’s it all about?: An epic saga of organised crime in post-war America told through the eyes of World War II veteran Frank Sheeran, a hustler and hitman who worked alongside some of the most notorious figures of the 20th century.

Spanning decades, the film chronicles one of the greatest unsolved mysteries in American history – the disappearance of legendary union boss Jimmy Hoffa – and offers a monumental journey through the hidden corridors of organised crime: its inner workings, rivalries and connections to mainstream politics.

Cast: Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, Jesse Plemons, Anna Paquin, Stephen Graham, Ray Romano and Bobby Cannavale.

Director: Martin Scorsese.

Release date: 27 November.

Enjoy!
