Cannon is accusing the stand-up comedy scene of hypocrisy.
Earlier this week, it was announced that comedian Kevin Hart would be hosting next year's Oscars. Within 24 hours, Hart had stepped down from the role, after old tweets of his resurfaced in which he appeared to make disparaging remarks about gay people.
Hart's replacement hasn't been announced yet, but it seems that comedian and actor Nick Cannon has set about pointing out that plenty more comedians have such skeletons in their closet.
Cannon quote-tweeted old posts by Sarah Silverman, Chelsea Handler and Amy Schumer — ending his message by saying "I'm just saying... should we keep going?"
Similarly, Ricky Gervais has made himself publicly available for the role of Oscars host — an appointment that would be deeply strange, as his most recent stand-up special was criticised for transphobic remarks.
Handler and Schumer have so far ignored Cannon's tweets, but Sarah Silverman appears to have embraced it — retweeting a story by People Magazine on the incident.
