Movies & TV

Our TV movie pick for tonight (Tuesday, 17 February) is Nick of Time, an extremely underrated '90s action thriller.
The film stars Johnny Depp (Donnie Brasco) as Gene Watson, a mild-mannered accountant. While arriving at a Los Angeles train station with his young daughter, he is confronted by the mysterious Mr Smith (Oscar-winner Christopher Walken, The Deer Hunter) and Ms Jones (Roma Maffia, Double Jeopardy).
They hand Watson a gun, order him to kill the state governor within 75 minutes and threaten to murder his child if he doesn't comply.
"Smith accompanies Watson to a hotel where the governor is to speak, while Jones holds the girl," the plot synopsis adds.
"As Watson considers his options, the hour to act draws ever nearer."
Nick of Time was a commercial and critical flop upon release in 1995, and we've never quite understood why.
After all, the movie boasts a thrilling and fast-paced story, stylish direction by John Badham (Saturday Night Fever, Stakeout), and a villain turn for the ages by Christopher Walken.
If you don't believe us, check out this unforgettable threatening monologue he delivers as Mr Smith below:
