George R. R. Martin has swapped dragons for spaceships on his new Netflix series.
There is a lot to take in with this first five-minute sequence from Nightflyers.
Between the strong leading lady and plenty of violence, it is clear the Martin knows how to stay on brand.
However, there’s also a big dude chasing the lady around with an axe, with a look in his eye that is more than a little crazy… which is basically the ending of The Shining… but set in space… which was basically the plot of Event Horizon…
Plus it looks like we get to see the end to at least one character’s story, so… spoilers?
However, we’re pretty sure this is also how the show will open, before jumping back several weeks or months to show how we got to this crazy and violent situation on board the spaceship.
Regardless, consider us hooked! Plus, it was all filmed in Limerick!
Nightflyers will debut on Syfy from Sunday 2 December, with one episode airing each night until the season finale on Thursday 13 December, before landing the entire series on Netflix (exact date TBD).
