Movies on TV

The sun may be out, but you better be in.

There’s still a while to go before we reach the more permissive phases of the roadmap back to reality, and for now, nothing has changed.

We should still be hunkered down, staying safe, and most importantly, watching movies on TV.

Here are some of the best options on the box this evening:

You Only Live Twice – ITV4 – 6.40pm

Connery Bond goes to Japan.

Maze – RTÉ One – 9.30pm

Tom Vaughn-Lawlor stars in a thrilling drama based on the 1983 breakout of 38 IRA prisoners from the Maze prison in Northern Ireland.

Pitch Perfect 2 – RTÉ 2 – 9.30pm

All-singing all-dancing comedy musical with Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson.

Days of Thunder – Sky One – 9pm

A classic Tom Cruise flick from back in 1990. In this one he plays a NASCAR driver who suffers a serious accident. Star-studded cast, also featuring Nicole Kidman, Robert Duvall, Randy Quaid and John C Reilly.

Easy A – Comedy Central – 10.30pm

Emma Stone is in high school and makes up a load of lies about her sexual past. Penn Badgley, the murderer from You, is also there (playing somebody else).

Fast and Furious 8 – ITV2 – 9pm

Also know as The Fate of the Furious. The first of the films to be made after the tragic death of Paul Walker. Charlize Theron comes in as The Bad Guy.

The Babadook – SyFy – 9pm

Scary Australian film about a monster that follows you everywhere, and also a pretty powerful metaphor for grief.

Ride Along – UTV – 10.35pm

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart — about as funny as any Kevin Hart film. You decide for yourself what that means.

Ali G Indahouse – Sky Comedy – 11.50pm

Satirical genius Sasha Baron Cohen at his best, in a movie that’s one part comedy farce, one part political intrigue, and all parts hilarious. Also stars Michael Gambon (Dumbledore in Harry Potter) and Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones).

LISTEN: You Must Be Jokin’ with Aideen McQueen – Faith healers, Coolock craic and Gigging as Gaeilge
