Following the good news that the proposed bus strikes have been averted comes the bombshell that Harry Shearer is leaving The Simpsons.
Shearer, the voice of Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner and many others, announced on Twitter last night that he was no longer part of the longest running animated series in history.
His reasons for leaving hint at contract difficulties for the 27th and 28th seasons of the show.

Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria have all agreed to do two more years of the show, but Shearer's decision marks the most significant loss of a cast member since the show began in December 1989.
