OFFICIAL: Jurassic World 3 will reunite Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern

Paul Moore

The original gang are back. Life finds a way.

In terms of the most iconic cinematic moments of all time, the moment when Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) sees a Brachiosaurus for the very first time is right up there.

Awestruck, shocked, and fully of giddy excitement, the way that Dr. Grant was feeling in that scene was almost perfectly in sync with how the audience felt as Spielberg’s blockbuster ushered in a brand new era for cinema, the CGI age.

Dr. Grant may have been given a breathtaking look at the past, but audiences knew that they were looking at the future.

Aside from that scene and a host of others, one aspect of the 1993 blockbuster often overlooked is the quality of the script and the performances of its leading trio.

Well, hold onto your butts because the original Jurassic Park gang will be returning for Jurassic World 3, as reported by Deadline.

With a new wave of genetically-enhanced dinosaurs wreaking havoc in the Jurassic World saga, Chris Pratt (Owen) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire) are going to need some help.

Of course, Laura Dern (Dr. Ellie Sattler) and Neill reprised their roles for Jurassic Park 3 – we’ll skip past that one – while Goldblum played Ian Malcolm in 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and again in 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Dern confirmed the news via her official Twitter account after she shared Deadline’s report.

The last Jurassic World, directed by J.A. Bayona, ended with the franchise going off in a whole new direction because the dinosaurs have now been transported away from Isla Nublar.

What would you know? They escaped and are now roaming free in civilisation.

Colin Trevorrow is back to direct the third film in the latest trilogy and production on Jurassic World 3 starts early next year.

Trevorrow also co-wrote the script alongside Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising, The Black Hole).

During an interview with JOE, Trevorrow said that Jurassic World 3 will “follow through on the themes, ideas, and the emotional relationships between the characters that we’ve been building through these two films.”
