Great news for fans of the show.
While Season 2 of The Sinner didn’t quite hit the heights of the Jessica Biel-led first season, there’s no doubting that the drama has acquired a devout fanbase, largely helped by its addition to the Netflix library.
Well, fans of the show will be very happy to know that Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) will be back as he investigates another dark and horrific murder mystery.
Variety have reported that the new season “follows Detective Harry Ambrose as he begins a routine investigation of a tragic car accident on the outskirts of Dorchester, in upstate New York. Ambrose uncovers a hidden crime that pulls him into the most dangerous and disturbing case of his career.”
A few weeks ago, the new season was confirmed on Instagram and the producers have already started casting with Chris Messina (Sharp Objects, The Mindy Project, Away We Go) being the latest addition to join the cast.
It’s reported that Messina will be playing a college friend of another new character, Jamie (played by Magic Mike’s Matt Bomer).
The character of Jamie is a Dorchester resident and expectant father who looks to Bill Pullman’s Detective Harry Ambrose for support in the wake of an accident.
Jessica Biel will be a producer on the new season although it hasn’t been confirmed if her character, Cora, will be returning.
Biel has previously been coy about the chances of Cora featuring in the show again.
