We now know when that surprise Deadpool movie will be hitting Irish cinemas

Just like Santa, he’ll be coming down your chimney just in time for Christmas.

A few months ago, we reported on the surprise news that Ryan Reynolds was back filming as Deadpool for a top-secret project.

Since the first official image (see above) was released, we took some guesses:

The image featured Deadpool in a Santa outfit, reading to Fred Savage, in much the same way that Peter Falk did for a much younger Fred Savage back in The Princess Bride

From that, and if you remember in The Princess Bride that Falk left out some of the more “adult” parts of the story for young Savage, we guessed that the new Deadpool movie will actually be a PG-13/12A version of Deadpool 2.

Turns out we were absolutely right, as Once Upon A Deadpool (official title alert!) will indeed be a cut-down version of the hit sequel.

Reynolds told Deadline that “Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006. I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining.”

So not only is the more explicit stuff cut out of the movie, but there have actually been some new scenes filmed and will be edited into the movie for the new re-release.

On top of that, Reynolds says that the new version will also be raising money for charity (although this may or may not just be in happening in the States): “Because it’s the season of giving, we will also be giving $1 for every ticket sold to F-ck Cancer, which will be renamed Fudge Cancer just for this limited time and campaign.”

20th Century Fox have told JOE that Once Upon A Deadpool will be released in Irish cinemas on Tuesday 11 December.
