One of our favourite Irish comedians has landed a massive gig with Netflix

We're very excited.

Netflix February

15 minutes of Netflix and chill coming soon to a screen near you.

Actress, comedian, and writer Aisling Bea is one of our most successful exports, and her star shows no sign of fading. Not only is she smashing it up on BBC’s new drama Hard Sun, and writing pilots with Sharon Horgan (WE KNOW) she’s also about to become world famous because that’s what happens when you land a Netflix comedy special.

On this week’s episode of Girls With Goals, Aisling joins Angela Scanlon on the panel to discuss ethical fashion, trampolines and repealing the 8th amendment. Oh and she mentioned something about a Netflix comedy special too (we’d have it printed on a t-shirt by now).

H’on the parish.

The Netflix comedy special has become a genre unto itself of late. You’d be hard pushed to find a big-name, successful comedian who doesn’t have one, and now the Irish are getting in on the act:

Shaking up the classic one-hour special format, Netflix will be releasing a series of (yet to be titled) 15-minute comedy sets which will be filmed next month, speaking to us exclusively on Girls With Goals Aisling said it’s a great opportunity:

“I only found out yesterday, and I’m the only international act, so Ireland will be represented on Netflix worldwide with my absolute shite chat”.

According to Vulture, the initial line up is Aisling Bea, Michelle Buteau, Tim Dillon, JR De Guzman, Sabrina Jalees, Janelle James, Sam Jay, Josh Johnson, Ian Karmel, Jak Knight, Matteo Lane, Max Silvestri, Taylor Tomlinson, Phil Wang, Emma Willmann, and Kate Willett.

We’re VERY excited.
