The original movie, which was released in 1996 and documented the lives of a group of heroin addicts in Edinburgh in the 1980s, was one of the defining films of its generation and still makes for compelling viewing more than 20 years on.

The sequel, which brings us a glimpse of what life is like for the main protagonists two decades on, is already shaping up to be one of the biggest hits of 2017 and goes on release in Irish cinemas on January 27.

To get fans in the mood for it, Cineworld cinemas in Dublin and in the UK will show the original Trainspotting movie on Tuesday, January 17 and for more details on how to go and see it, click here.
