The new Star Wars is the fourth film they’ve both starred in.

With the arrival of Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker (our review in full here), this marks the fourth time that Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson have starred in the same movie.

This is their third Star Wars movie together (after The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi), and they both featured in tense thriller Ex Machina.

However, The Rise Of Skywalker is actually the first time that Isaac’s Poe Dameron and Gleeson’s General Hux have shared the screen in the Star Wars universe, for reasons… that we won’t give away here.

Despite that, Isaac is obviously a huge fan of Domhnall Gleeson, and when JOE had the chance to sit and chat with him upon the release of Episode IX, we had to ask about his time spent with that actor we commonly refer to as Ireland’s national treasure:

“I mean, how could he not be!?”, Isaac responded. “He’s my personal national treasure!”

However, it turns out that Isaac is still waiting on the official invite to pop over to Ireland himself, but despite that, he still loves his time working alongside Gleeson:

“He’s never invited me over to visit. I have invited him several times. Yeah, I have enjoyed working with Domhnall so much! And I was really happy that we at least got a little bit of an interaction in this movie and, you know, hopefully on the next one, we’ll have more to do.”

Does Isaac reckon you they might team up again potentially? ”Yeah! For sure, for sure!”

Well, there you go. Oscar & Domhnall: Round Five, coming to a big screen near you!

Watch JOE’s full interview with Isaac right here, where we also discuss his love for big sci-fi, and the difficult choice of picking the cutest between Baby Yoda and Babu Frik:
